Why Did We Choose This Topic? Baby boomers and seniors are the fastest growing group of social networking website users. Older Americans are increasingly using the Internet to reconnect with people from their past and to seek information and support with medical issues. (PEW, 2010). The highest percentage of tablet and e-readers are not young people – but older Americans (Harris Interactive, 2012). Senior citizens that are trying out new technology. They want to learn it and may even go by the devices without knowing how to use them. We want to educate them on the basics so they can use the iPad to the best of their ability.

How We Put Our Lesson Plan Together We identified an information gap Brainstormed together the most used-features and requirements to working on an iPad Divided up initiatives Decided what our lesson plan would look like Created an outline of our presentation Created a cheat sheet so Seniors could learn or review items we covered on their own

A Few Key Instructional Ideas How to take and share pictures  Seniors are a growing segment on social networking sites and need to know this How to download an App  Seniors may not know how some Apps are free, others you purchase and how you can download them How to reset your iPad if it freezes  Seniors may not know what to do and how to troubleshoot this issue Provide a list of popular Apps for Seniors  We help them take the guess work out of what Apps they should download by providing a list of useful Senior Apps
