Worship Leader: We gather together in Jesus’ name All: Help us to explore, discover and learn together

In the Diocese of Vellore in South India they have not had enough rain for many years and the rivers have run dry – there is not enough water for the crops. Then sudden unexpected floods will bring much hardship.

Floods can bring problems in this country too

But getting enough water is actually really important - without water people can live for just a few days. They can live for only about a month without food. The map shows where in the world people do not have proper access to safe drinking water.

In the Bible Jesus is called the “Bread of Life” and the person who is the source of “Living Water”. This tells us how important belief in Jesus is to people’s spiritual life. People will be spending extra time during Lent reading the Bible together and finding out more about Jesus. This is like taking in the spiritual food and water that their hearts and brains need.

What can we do in Lent to make a difference? Can we feed those in need ? Can we feed our own hearts and brains?

This week’s Lent Challenge Bishop Stephen is challenging us to think about helping people who are in need. He wants us to keep feeding our brains too!

God our Father, We pray for all the people of the world who are live unhappy or difficult lives: for the people who do not have enough to eat; for the people who have no home; and for those who are ill and cannot get help. We give thanks for all the many people who volunteer to help others who need their support. We ask that you inspire us to work for others too. Amen

Worship Leader: Go in peace to discover God’s world and your place in it. All: We go in Jesus’ name
