FOOD INSECURITY IN GUILFORD COUNTY AUSTIN SIMONS, DREW PHILLIPS, RICHARD MOORE, AND NICHOLAS TAUBER

Food insecurity is a major issue in the World. Especially in Guilford County. According to a 2014 Gallup poll, Guilford County ranked number one in food insecurities. In 2013, 23.3% of children in Guilford County lived in food insecure homes. According to the US Department of Agriculture, 24 census tracts in Guilford County are labeled as food deserts.

. Reasons for this food insecurity are very abundant. One reason is due to the loss of furniture and manufacturing jobs in the area

RESPONSE TO THE ISSUE In our group, we are going to do a food drive. By December 1 st, we aim to collect at least 100 cans, and distribute them to Grimsley’s food pantry.
