DO YOU WANT TO BE A JOURNALIST?

WHO A JOURNALIST IS? That being said, a “traditional” journalist reports the news. What does that mean? The standard image of a journalist is working a beat for a newspaper and finding stories. Which begs the question: What is a beat?

WORKING A BEAT – Газетная сенсация! A beat is a media topic, a journalist covers. So a beat could be anything from local crime, to national news to Hollywood movies. Beats can be very specific (специальные, конкретные), or broader (Широкие, обширные), depending (в зависимости) on the kind of publication you’re working for.

DEVELOPING SOURCES The other big reason journalists work beats, aside (указывает на) from developing (усовершенствование) a deep knowledge of the subject they’re covering, is to develop sources (усовершенствование источников, начал). Sources are people you talk to report a story.

WHY CHOOSE JOURNALISM? If you enjoy words, it's the perfect job. It's exciting (увлекательно). It’s a sociable job. There are some wonderful perks (Постоянная работа).

IS IT EASY TO BE JOURNALIST? YES, IT IS IF… You’re not afraid (бояться) difficulties. Future journalist must know such object as psychology. And you quite (полностью) agree with it. The profession of journalist becomes dangerous nowadays (опасностью на сегодняшний день). You know it. Real news and facts are the main topics for the journalists. It is very important to explain (разъяснять) the real life’s events (случаи) for readers.
