COURSE AIMS  To enable students to investigate a range of areas within business  To provide students with the knowledge, understanding and skills for further education or future employment

GRADING  Students can achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade for each unit.  Overall distinction =4 A grades at GCSE  Overall merit = 4 B grades at GCSE  Overall pass =4 C grades at GCSE  Units are assessed by teachers  Students can track their progress

FOUR MANDATORY UNITS  Unit 1 –Business Purpose  Unit 2 – Business Organisations  Unit 3 – Financial Forecasting For Business  Unit 4 – People in Organisations

Unit 1 –BUSINESS PURPOSE  Enables learners to understand the nature of business organisations and the business environment in which they operate

Unit 2 – BUSINESS ORGANISATIONS  Enables learners to understand the aims and objectives of business organisations and how they are organised into functional areas to meet their business aims and objectives.

Unit 3 – FINANCIAL FORECASTING FOR BUSINESS  Enables learners to understand the financial aspects of running a business.

Unit 4 – PEOPLE IN ORGANISATIONS  Enables learners to understand the part played by people in business organisations.

FOUR SPECIALIST UNITS  Unit 11 - Customer Relations in Business  Unit 12 - Business Online  Unit 16 - Business Enterprise  Unit 21 - Promoting and Branding in Retail Business

PROGRESSION  Students can move from a BTEC First course to a level 3 qualification at 6 th form or college. Pupils may also use the qualification in their request to gain employment.
