Prepare,Listen,And Follow Up By Ritesh Sharma

Introduction Most of the college students start searching and exploring the job opportunities in the related field in their senior year. They start to search for the organizations they are interested in.

Getting ready writing down the names of people, and industries that interest you. Define your topic you want to explore. Clarify how these subjects relate to your work experience and career objectives. Start making phone calls as you build your contact list and maintain a positive attitude.

Defining your Objectives Do’s: When you call an organization, make sure to let the contact know you are on a fact- finding mission to learn more about the industry. Don’ts: Never make the mistake of calling an organization and asking if there are any available positions. It is not likely a job will precisely when you call.

Preparation for the Interview You should go through the exact same process you would undertake prior to a job interview. Defining the topics you intend to discuss. Study and take notes on business publications, books and corporate literatures. Dress and act professional when you got for an interview.

Process making calls to different companies, be very patient and be courteous to the so called “Gatekeepers’ who usually screens calls. Introduce yourself and politely try to establish a relationship.

Actual Interview Be confident. Verify the time Your questions will help you learn more about the job search process and interviewing skills. If it is acceptable to the other person, take notes so that you can retain maximum information.

Frequently asked questions What are some of the challenges in this field? What skills/experience do you feel are important for success in this field? What type of background is most suitable? How long have you been in this field? What did you do before? Why did you choose this field? Always monitor the length of the interview.

At the close of the interview, ask for contact names and their phone numbers Always follow up. Send thank-you notes a couple of days later. Follow Through

The time you invest conducting informational interviews will provide you valuable information. You will gain insight into various corporations, industries and hiring trends and you will have a chance to practice talking about your own talents and experiences In a less formal setting than an official job interview. Conclusion
