The Green Group Suspicion on fish farm-Clinical examination and epidemiology investigation of fish farm Vildana Andrea Elena Aleksandar Simo

Clinical examination-Information about the farm Big Trout situated on Black River Species kept-Rainbow trout, Brown trout, Pearch Categories present- broodstock, fry, fingerlinks, on groing fish, market size Capacity- 130 t 12 workers on the farm

Clinical examination Reported by the farmer: – Mortalities juveniles and adults – Unusual behavior – Weakness of fish Findings – Negative lab. Test – Water temperature-15 ˚C

Clinical signs Darkening of the skin Lethargy Exophtalmus Pale gills Haemorrhages Abnormal swimming (flashing and spiralling) Distended abdomen

Epidemiological investigation Suspicion on VHS No upstream farms One downstream farm (3km) where the IPN is present No introduction of live fish on the farm Live fish export in Albania and on domestic market Transportation trucks (same) from different companies enters the farm Low biosecurity – no fence, no designated disinfection place, no safety nets, absence of standard flow Feed supply – registered producers

Epidemiological investigation Seasonal workers among two farms (hachuring and sorting) Disposal of carcasses – hole in the ground in the opposite direction of the spring

Epidemiological investigation Possible virus introduction 1. Contaminated water present in the truck coming from other infected farm 2. Same equipment for fish handling 3. Birds contaminating the spring
