What happens to the tree in winter? It diesIt stays alive

It just looks like it is because it has stopped growing and has no leaves. Deciduous trees stay alive, waiting for the warmer spring weather when they will start to grow again. Next

The tree stays alive. During winter, deciduous trees stop growing. It may seem like they are dead, but they are alive, waiting for the warmer weather that comes in spring. Next

In places with very cold winters, where it snows. Places like Sydney, with warmer winters. Not all deciduous trees lose their leaves for winter, to find out where this happens, chose a climate. Have you seen both? Next

Bac k In some places, where it snows or gets to almost freezing temperature, the water in the ground turns to ice. The roots of the tree are not able to drink the water and this means there is no water for the leaves, so they can’t stay alive. The tree has prepared for this by losing it’s leaves.

In warmer parts of the world, like Sydney, the tree does not lose all of its leaves. It is called an evergreen tree and only loses a few leaves at a time. Eucalyptus trees are evergreen. Bac k
