Catholic School Vs. Public School

Introduction Catholic School, Public School? Public School, Catholic School? This question is in the minds of many Catholic parents as they being raising their children. The best gift you could give your child is the gift of education; many parents believe that you cannot go wrong with a Catholic education, while other parents enjoy the convenience of a local public school.

Task Mr. and Mrs. Cook have just moved to Port Washington. They have two children, Michelle who is 8 and Tommy who is 5. Mr. and Mrs. Cook had no problem deciding where to move, but they are having a hard time deciding which school to send their children to. Mr. Cook attended his local public school when he was a child and wants his children to have to same experience as him. But Mrs. Cook attended Catholic school for 15 years and has always dreamed of sending her children to a Catholic School.

Process If you use power point, have at least 3 slides for each pro and con of public schools and catholic schools You can plan the diagrams anyway you want, the more colors the better! Assemble together a team of high school teenagers. Help The Cook Family make their decision by creating a presentation highlighting the pros and cons of both public and Catholic school. You can do power point or a diagram. You must present your webquest to the class.

What are the names of two of the Catholic and Public Schools in the Port Washington area? Where is the closest Catholic School located? How far away is the public school from the Catholic School? What is the tuition for the Catholic School?

Conclusion If you were in the Cook’s situation, where would you send your children to? A Catholic School or the local Public School? If you had originally worked on power point add at least 5 slides answering the above question. If you made a diagram create another one dedicated to your choice of school with plenty of support as to why you chose that specific school.

Rubric Power Point/Diagrams 10 points for creativity 10 points for answering all questions 10 points for accurate informations 5 points off for lateness 15 points on oral presentation.
