SHAC Committee Meeting Dates December 1, 2014 January 26, 2015 May 7, 2015 (eMeeting)

December 1 Review of Meridian ISD SHAC Vision, Mission, Goals, and Purpose Add the Competitive Foods and Fundraisers in Texas guide to the Meridian ISD Wellness Plan. Worth the Wait-According to minutes from the SHAC meeting on April 4, 2014 this might not be the program for our district. The plan was to gather more information before purchasing. Additional things discussed were the need for more education at the Junior High level especially on positive mental health due to the number of suicide attempts and "cutters." Help for this students and monitoring is in the process of being address through the 504 committee. Shattered Dreams programming which address alcohol abuse and driving while intoxicated will be held at the high school in the spring. (Please keep this information confidential.)

January 26 Kathryn Roberts attended Worth the Wait training and recommends implementing the program grades 6-HS. Program was purchased previously and notebooks were found. Permission slips will be sent home with all students. Parents will have the opportunity to review content. Teacher will teach only what is in the curriculum. Grade 6 instruction will be in PE.
