Now about me… o Mike McGuire ̶ Married with a three-year-old son named Aidan ̶ Grew up down the street in Mt. Greenwood but live in the western suburbs currently ̶ M.A. in Rhetoric and Composition from NEIU ̶ B.A. from UIC, double major in English and psychology ̶ Third year at MVCC ̶ Taught 2 years prior to MVCC at Kishwaukee College ̶ Before that another 2 years part-time at Waubonsee Community College ̶ Worked in the IT/management consulting industry during that time in knowledge management, communications, and corporate education ̶ Taught English as a foreign language in Japan ̶ As a teacher, I hold my students to high standards of excellence, but I will do all that I can to help them succeed (because I know they can)

In the Spot Light 1.Introduce a person in your group and share something you learned about him/her 2.Share what everyone in your group has in common
Working as a Team 1.Together come up with 5 to 8 questions you have about this course 2.Now, with the syllabus, try to find the answers to the questions you came up with 3.Let’s talk about the questions you couldn’t find answers to…

Your Homework o Read/study syllabus for a possible quick quiz next class o Writing Assignment: “You and Your Car” o Do assigned readings (just the SF Writer; we’ll look at the other handouts next class)
