1 John 1:9-10, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”

Prov 3:5, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”

Proverbs Chapter 14 Section III, Vs “Walking by Faith in the Sight of Others.”

Contrasts in Character and Consequences Regarding Life or Death, vs

Three Main Topics a) An honest witness, vs. 25, b) The fear of the Lord, vs. 26–27, c) National security, vs. 28–35.

Four Consequences: 1) Comparing the honest witness versus the false witness, vs. 25.

2) God-fearing, escalating from the individual in vs. 26a, to family in vs. 26b, and to others in vs. 27.

2) God-fearing, escalating from the individual in vs. 26a, to family in vs. 26b, and to others in vs ) Comparing the patient with the impatient person, vs

4) Comparing righteous and wicked social behavior, vs. 31 and their eternal consequence, vs. 32.

Verse 25

Verse 25 In a court of law it is vital that people tell the truth so that justice can be served.

Likewise, in the spiritual realm it is vital that you tell people the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to save their souls.

The Contrast!

The Contrast! The liar deceitfully destroys the innocent by not allowing justice to be served in regard to the truly guilty, where they may be set free to cause further harm on others.

The liar may also falsely accuse an innocent person rendering a false verdict of guilt on them.

In God’s Law, Deut 19:15, someone can not be found guilty unless two or three witnesses agreed.

Mat 26:59-61, “Now the chief priests and the whole Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death. 60 They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on two came forward, 61 and said, “This man stated, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’”

False doctrine does not allow the sinner to go free, as they are continually held in the bondage of sin and Satan’s cosmic system. But the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ does. John 3:16-18

Verse God-fearing, escalating from the individual in vs. 26a, to family in vs. 26b, and to others in vs. 27.

“Fear the Lord” YIR’AH YHVH - יְהָוה יִרְאָה 1 st used 2 Chron 19:7, 9 regarding going to court with a warning to “fear the Lord” in all proceedings.

“Fear of the Lord” is synonymous with the worship of Him leading to the avoidance of sin, cf. Ex 20:20, Job 28:28, and having +H within our lives, Isa 11:1-3, as we walk by faith and not by sight.

In vs we receive four benefits: 1) Strong confidence.

MIBTACH, מִבְטָח “Confidence, trust or security.” It stems from having eternal security in your salvation that leads to confidence in God’s strength and power in your life.

Jesus Christ is the Rock to which we cling to for salvation and our daily walk. He is our hiding place, Psa 32:7; 119:114.

Our children will be blessed by association, as we pass down our spiritual heritage to them and they receive Christ just as we did. Heb 6:18-20

“Two unchangeable things.” God’s two witnesses that do not lie and provide for our strong confidence in Him:

1) His oath, “for God cannot change,” vs. 17.

Deut 10:20-21, “You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve Him and cling to Him, and you shall swear by His name. 21 He is your praise and He is your God, who has done these great and awesome things for you which your eyes have seen.”
