Christ Baptist Church Fall 2015 / Spring 2016

1.How was the gospel sown in your life before you became a believer? 2.In what ways is spreading the gospel like sowing seeds? 3.What kind of man was Saul? What caused the believers to be scattered at this time?

What do we know about Saul (Paul)? Acts 22:3“I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated at the feet of Gamaliel according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as all of you are this day. Phil 3:5circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; Phil 3:6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. Acts 23:6“Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees” Acts 16:37But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men who are Roman citizens, and have thrown us into prison; and do they now throw us out secretly? Acts 26:9-11 “I myself was convinced that I ought to do many things in opposing the name of Jesus of Nazareth. 10 And I did so in Jerusalem. I not only locked up many of the saints in prison after receiving authority from the chief priests, but when they were put to death I cast my vote against them. 11 And I punished them often in all the synagogues and tried to make them blaspheme, and in raging fury against them I persecuted them even to foreign cities. 1 Cor 15:9For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

3.How did God use Philip? Why do you suppose He worked this way in this case? Where did Philip go to preach? Why did the people of Samaria pay attention to what Philip taught? V6 What did Philip preach about? Who did he proclaim? (V5) How did the people respond? 24 And the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the people of Israel. And they took possession of Samaria and lived in its cities. 25 And at the beginning of their dwelling there, they did not fear the Lord. 2 Kings 17:23-41

What did the apostles in Jerusalem do when they heard about the result of Philip’s preaching in Samaria? What did Peter and John do when they arrived in Samaria? 5.What do you learn about faith from Simon’s words and actions? What were the 4 points in Peter’s response? V20, 21, 22, 23 6.By contrast, what sort of faith do we want to foster in others when we demonstrate and explain the gospel?

What did the angel command Philip to do? What was the result of his obedience? What was the eunuch reading when Philip interrupted him? In Acts 8:34, what did the eunuch ask and what is the answer to his question? What did the eunuch do? v38

7.How can you incorporate Philip’s example into your own witnessing? 8.What is the importance of baptism in the Christian’s life? 9. How did God use circumstances in this chapter to spread the gospel? 10. How did God use the normal routine of life to spread the gospel? 11. How can you witness more in your daily routine this week?
