M any of our students do not know the neighbourhood where we live: its history, peculiar aspects and monuments. We believe it is essential to keep the historical memory and teach the students to save the cultural heritage of our city in order to save the environment. Our school adopted the historical buildings of Via Andrea Doria. These buildings are not very important monuments from an artistic and cultural point of view in comparison with other more beautiful and famous ones. Nevertheless they are symbols of our neighbourhood and we must save them to be able to keep admiring them.

Name of activity: The school adopts a monument – The historical buildings in Via Andrea Doria – Rome Teachers: Agnese Bartoli, Maria Moccia, Maria Montanaro Short description: Study case of a street and its buildings situated in the school neighbourhood. The study will take into consideration the urban as well as the environmental aspects, taking into account the quality indicators (pollution, acoustic levels, green areas, garbage) Target group: 1 class of 20 students, 11 years old (1°A)

An architect of the City Council guide us through the buildings of Via Andrea Doria The first big building in Via Andrea Doria

The home of the “fairs” The courtyard What do we see that we have never noticed before!

How it was How it is The market curtains choke the buildings… …and trapped plane trees!

Via Pomponazzi: a public area we rest

In the computer lab we write a report on our experience, making graphics and charts on the survey we made. We will make hipertext using all the dates, pictures and films that we gathered.
