Matthew 5:36-38
Like God’s Word The Lord is a constant So His Word does not change – Heb. 13:7-9 No matter how much man might God is longsuffering – Mal. 3:6-7
Being Honest This is half of being consistent, because lies do not agree Why the Law of Moses demanded two witnesses – Deut. 19:15-19 God dwells with those that tell the truth – Psa. 15:1-3 Honesty is not always easy
Not Changing for Convenience Saying one thing, doing another – Matt. 23:1-4 Or saying what people want to hear – Eph. 4:11-14 Or perhaps changing our stance because of personal feelings – Gal. 2:11-14 Jesus did none of these things!
Conclusion If you wear Christ’s name, He expects you to say what you mean & mean what you say. Being consistent gives our preaching & teaching credibility and lets us shine our lights before others.
