Introduction Highway Scene Management Training

Training Objectives 1. Define "Roadway Clearance" and explain its importance to those traveling on NC highway. Identify the basic concepts and recognize the importance of developing a unified command among all first responders on a scene. 2. Identify the responsibilities of each responder at a scene and strategies to clear the highway safely and in a timely manner.

Training Objectives 4. Recognize the statistical impact of cost and effect that an incident has on the entire highway network. 3. Identify technology and resources that can assist each first responder in performing their respective duties while maintaining their safety and allowing traffic to flow.

Training Objectives 5. Explain the proper response, set-up, staging, and removal of vehicles at a scene. 6. Identify the laws pertaining to "Quick Clearance" in NC. 7. Identify the skills needed to manage a scene

Importance of Roadway Clearance on NC highways “Roadway Clearance” is the point at which an incident is completely cleared from the travel lanes of the roadway. “Roadway Clearance” has an impact on “Incident Clearance” times, which concludes when all objects and vehicles are completely removed from the scene, without any further traffic interruption or delays.
