* Joan Finney was the first female governor of Kansas she was also the oldest * Marilyn Monroe was the star of the movie “Some Like it Hot”
* Clyde Tombaugh discovered the planet Pluto. * Dwight D. Eisenhower was the first native of Kansas to be elected President of the United States. * Thurgood Marshall won his case Brown vs Board of Education of Topeka.
* There were four major battles in the Civil War fought in Kansas. These included: The Lawrence Massacre, The Baxter Springs Massacre, Battle of the Osage, and Battle of the Trading Post.
* Kansas’ Climate is highly changeable with cold winters and hot summers.
