Barnegat Township Schools Homework/Class Participation Committee

Welcome

Superintendent’s Remarks

Summer Study We discovered a strong disconnect between the following: Report Card Grades; Standardized Test Scores; Cold Assessments aligned to Standards; Placement Tests aligned to Standards.

Summer Study – Part II Inconsistencies with percentage weights for: Class Participation Homework Completion (Across the district )

We Know This Impacts Basic Skills I & RS Referral CST Referral G and T Accelerated Courses (6-8) Honors/AP (9-12) GPA, Class Rank College Acceptance

And… This may lead to an “unclear” picture of performance and ability

Your Task…. Fair, Consistent, and Clear Weights Align the weight to grade span/course level K (with a focus on middle school prep) 6-8 (On grade level) 6-8 (Accelerated Courses) 9-12 (College Prep) 9-12 (Honors) 9-12 (Advanced Placement) K-12 (Related Arts)

Past Practice K Up to 25% Up to 40%

Before our next meeting… Speak with your “stakeholder” group; Be objective; Bring your feedback to the next meeting.
