EPIC Mission for CAP Photograph all marked & unmarked airstrips except International airports
Mission Procedures Contact FLWG/CDD to receive mission # and grid assignment Check flight WX & WX in scheduled grid(s) –Contact CD officer for alternate grids if necessary due to WX forecast Flight Release & Preflight File Flight plan (as appropriate)
Types of Missions Reconnaissance Mission –Fly assigned grid(s) and log airstrips w/ Lat/Long –Note any portions of grid(s) not flown due to WX or time restrictions Photo Mission –Fly to predetermined Lat/Long & photograph airstrips Fly grids as above and photograph airstrips as they are encountered
General Photo Rules hours for best photo results due to light requirements (unless otherwise directed) No cloud shadows over photographed airstrip AGL during photo session 45° to approximately 65° angle to runway If hazy conditions, use haze filter if possible Photos MUST be taken through open window
Photo Requirements 2 airstrip photos must be taken facing each direction: N, S, E & W –Note: aircraft should have heading to enable observer to have best angle minus degrees See following example….

Photo Requirements No struts or airplane parts can be in photo Photo should show entire runway(s) with access roads (approx. 90% of the image) –Note: photos taken with Kodak 120 will reduce actual image seen in viewfinder
