Habitat Crocodiles are found in rivers and lakes. Sometimes they swim out to sea.
Appearance Both crocodiles and alligators have a long nose, and powerful jaws full of teeth. They have long bodies and tails, which are covered in scales.
Prey / Predators Crocodiles eat a large number of different animals. They lie in wait for they prey to pass by, then they attack. They swallow their prey whole, or break it into smaller pieces.
Communication Male crocodiles bellow to attract a female and to scare other males.
Endangered? Crocodiles are often hunted for their skin. Hunting was controlled in 1970, and since then, numbers have increased.
