Robot Election Mission

Mission The Problem The Mission “I invented the Internet.” presidential candidate Double-talking politicians are mucking up the works. It's our duty to rescue the world from these nit wits! Design, build and manage a robot to run in a campaign for President of The Universe. Think about the interests of the citizens. What could your robot do that would win their votes.

Goals At the end of this mission, robot candidates will run on an obstacle course that simulates a presidential campaign trail. Your robot may earn votes for: A good campaign slogan. Making noise. Standing tall. Raising money (or collecting candy). A campaign speech (recorded in Scratch and triggered by moving a mouse).

Modules Modular construction is BIG! Break your solution into simple motion, sensor and structural modules. You may find instructions for useful modules in Build-It-Blocks.

The Plan 1.Plan and design. 2.Build modules. 3.Build obstacles. 4.Integrate and test your solution. 5.Document results. 6.Present your project to the world. There’s a lot to do! If we don’t work together, our solution may fail.

Look’n Good Present your solution! Make cool characters. Draw signs the way. Use many and shapes. Be neat and organized. A good idea that looks ugly … may not get the attention it deserves!

Examples - Videos Meet Vermin Supreme 2012 Presidential Candidate Stupid Politician

Examples – Robot Candidates

Examples – Campaign Trail Obstacles Throw candy to the voters. Raise a campaign slogan sign. Stand tall. Touch the top of an arch. Maneuver around difficult challenges without upsetting anything. Raise money for your campaign. Make lots of noise.

Questions To Discuss The Problem: - What are the differences between democracy and dictatorship? - What are the benefits of democracy and dictatorship? The Solution: - What are qualities of a good leader?
