Presentation transcript:

CODATA publishes an open access electronic Journal from QUB Summary of the last four years The contract was to expire at the end of CODATA called for proposals to manage the Journal. The Japan N.C. made a proposal, and was approved.

Our Proposal: Publish the Journal from J-STAGE Merits: 1. Links to PubMed, ChemPort, CrossRef -> strong incentive 2. Google full text search -> high visibility 3. Free from server maintenance -> light duty 4. Online submission/review system -> quick publication 5. Free of charge -> low cost Immediate target, Double number of papers at a half cost, seems feasible

Expansion of the Journal horizon 1. Online database and simulation 2. Video presentation 3. Data repository other than science and technology Cultural heritage data e.g., Silk road as a pilot project of DSAO? Academic findings -----> Journal Video contents -----> Repository Energy, Environments, and then Culture !

Expansion of CODATA’s mission Committee on Data for Science and Technology Better human life Have our own data/networking repositories, as WDC does
