Lifting

Real-life situations – Lifting 21 What do you think the operators in these situations should have done or known about ?

Before a lift To lift any load, big or little: Understand the operation: the trajectory, the hazards, the guiding process and the marking of the area, whether there is a lifting plan or not Visually inspect the load, the equipment and check the colour code of the slings Check the stability of the installation surface for any mobile lifting equipment Flag up any obstructions and protective equipment that may be missing Respect the rules for bundling and attaching the load, as well as sling and pull angles Report any doubts you have to your supervisor

During a lift Do not take any risks (acrobatic moves) in attaching the slings and guiding the load Make sure that no one walks under the load Make sure that no one is standing between the load and a fixed obstacle If you lose sight of or communication with the crane operator, report this immediately Never change the lifting operation without warning (e.g. at resumption of a lift) Specific authorisation from the RSES is required for lifting persons (basket). 23

24 - Reference, date, place Current situation – “SIMOPS” ON RIG SITE Rig releasing and welding, cuting, grinding on the work shop area
