The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) enables young people to use their energy and passion to change the world for the better. Run by young people for young people, UKYP provides opportunities for year-olds to use their voice in creative ways to bring about social change. We represent the youth of Southend on a regional level. Our region includes D/MYP’s from Norfolk, Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Thurrock. The regional reps then represent us on a national level An example of how much young people enjoy the work of UKYP

This year the East of England regional campaign has been CAFE- Cultural Awareness For Everyone National campaigns: Cheaper bus fares for young people Abolition of University Tuition Fees Political Education for all. These campaigns were put forward as suggestions from any young people in the country. The most popular were whittled down and then voted upon by young people. The top 5 were selected and the MYP’s of all regions were given the chance to vote for their favourite one.
