West Shore Parents Meeting October 5, 2015

Brevard County Lacrosse Organizational Overview Parent Organization: Friends of Brevard Lacrosse (FBL) 9 Member Schools Cocoa Beach Eau GallieEdgewood MelbourneMerritt IslandRockledge SatelliteVieraWest Shore The Lacrosse Program is 100% Self-funded No School District funding FBL is solely responsible for filing the tax information with the IRS and maintaining tax exempt status with the State of Florida Member schools are not permitted to maintain any separate bank accounts.

Brevard County Lacrosse Organizational Overview Member schools’ monies are held & disbursed by FBL $250 Player Fee (Non-refundable after season begins) $10 from every player fee is paid to FBL for administrative costs FBL interfaces with the Brevard School Board FBL pays all referees and the coaches of all member schools FBL is self-insured through U.S. Lacrosse FBL is a registered 501c-3 501c-3 Status makes FBL a non-profit tax-exempt organization All donations over and above the initial $250 player fee are tax deductible

Lacrosse District Assignments  West Shore is in Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) District #22  6 Schools  Eau Gallie (Melbourne) Holy Trinity (Melbourne)  Melbourne Melbourne Central Catholic  Sebastian River (Sebastian) West Shore (Melbourne)  Important FHSAA Information to Know  One State Champion  No Division 1A, 2A,etc.  FHSAA Mandates a Maximum 18 Game Season  When a team plays 2 games against another school in its district  Only the first game will count as game towards the State Championship

Important new FHSAA Rules  Please refer to Compliance Documents   Fighting will result in ejection from the game and possible prohibition of future games  Coach/School could be fined  Schools involved could receive a “Public” reprimand  Our program could be expelled from playing FHSAA lacrosse!  5 Minute Penalty = Ejection from Game  Noisemakers are no longer allowed during games  No Cowbells – specifically mentioned

Banner Fundraiser Sell a yearly renewal and earn a $50 credit for each renewal. Sell 1 banner and earn a $100 credit. Sell 2 banners and earn a $250 credit. Your child plays for FREE! Completed paperwork and money must be collected before Jan 1, 2016 for a player to receive credit. Sales made or money collected after Jan 1, 2016 will not result in a player credit.

Miscellaneous Information and Requests Must have NEW PLAYERS helmet make/model ASAP so that we can order helmet wrap. The cost is approximately $25. Are there any volunteers who can install 2 x 4’s in the shed so that we can hang items? Are there any volunteers who can hang banners? Can anyone donate a built-in box with lid and lock to store items?
