Reducing the health risks from algal toxins in drinking annd bathing waters Twinning Light Prooject EE06-IB-TWP-ESC-01

Main Activities in 6 months Assessment of the situation (raw water water works, bathing sites) Assessment of the current practise of management Installation of „improved“ monitoring and communication schemes and risk assessment strategies Analysis Training

Activities (work plan) 1 Sampling plan - inspection of local sites - check of available data - information concerning treatment trains and conditions - definition of relevant sampling points - definition of critical points - definition of „additional“ key parameters - early warning function !!!

Activities (work plan) 2Sampling and analysis of raw waters and different treatment trains - routine parameters (link with training) - cyanobacteria (link with training) - cyanobacterial toxins (link with training) - assessment of data

Activities (work plan) 3 Training plan 3.1Sampling procedures 3.2Identification of cyanobacterial blooms and species composition 3.3Analytical methods 3.4 Alert level frame work (ALF); Water safety plan (WSP) link to TOXIC and PEPCY

Activities (work plan) 4Training courses - Sampling - Identification of blooms, - Analysis of toxins - ALF and WSP

Activities (work plan) Training – ALF and WSP - design of ALF in the context of WSP - discussion of ALF with staff in Tallin and Narva

Activities (work plan) 5Documentation (working out ALF (WSP) and guidelines for surveillance and agreements - sampling plan - SOP´s for analysis - Information flow - Measures - Documents

Activities (work plan) 6 Information seminars - authorities - staff of waterworks - owners of bathing sites
