Homework Please check your child’s homework for completeness and accuracy. Students should read a minimum of 20 minutes daily to develop fluency, vocabulary, and endurance. Reading to/with your child is also beneficial. Reading log is due on Fridays with a parent or guardian signature. Assigned spelling homework is due Friday. Students should be studying daily using whatever methods are effective. Math homework is assigned on Monday and due Friday. Please encourage daily practice for multiplication fluency – 10 to 15 minutes of focused practice daily makes a difference. Science homework is assigned at the beginning of the week, and due on Thursday. SS assigned as needed, noted in agenda.

Music, Art, & PE Schedule Please Wear closed toe shoes (preferably) athletic shoes on PE days. Absolutely NO flip flops in PE. Each student has their schedule in their agenda.

Library Please Encourage your child to keep their library books in their backpack when not reading them. Every other Tuesday

ELA in 4 th Grade My goal is to help students become better readers and writers by modeling what good readers and writers do, and by giving them time to read and write every day. How? reading out loud to students, sharing my thinking process as I work to comprehend and make meaning writing in front of my students as I model the writing process using mentor texts (picture books / chapter books) as models of what good writers do Reading and Writing go

How often should I practice basic multiplication facts? Only on the days you eat! Multiplication Fluency: A necessity for success in math! Students are expected to be practicing basic multiplication fact fluency daily. Fluency means a student is able to instantly retrieve the answer from memory. Students will be held accountable for acquiring this skill. A major grade will be given each quarter. Students will be graded on fluency > speed and accuracy of 100 basic facts and will be graded as follows: 1st Quarter - 5 minutes 2nd Quarter minutes 3rd Quarter - 4 minutes 4th Quarter - 3 minutes
