Analysis of Non-Fiction Empire Film Magazine NAB Plan

NAB Question Analyse and integrate at least two text- based key aspects (Categories and Language) and one context-based key aspect (Institution) as they apply to a non- fiction media text you have studied.

PC (a) Select and analyse appropriate text-based key aspects to show how the meaning of the text is conveyed. In relation to each of the two chosen or specified text-based key aspects, and as appropriate to the text, the following should be adequately analysed:

PC (a) Categories Any two from medium, purpose, form, genre, tone, style and others. Language technical/cultural codes anchorage

PC (b) Select and analyse appropriate context-based key aspects to show how the meaning of the text is conveyed. Institution effects of internal controls on text effects of external controls on text

PC (c) Integrate key aspects to show how a text is constructed and understood. There should be a minimum of one integration between any two key aspects.

Introduction State it is important to consider the key aspects of Categories, Language and Institution when producing a magazine.

Key Point 1 – Categories (where appropriate analyse in relation to Institution – i.e the need to make a profit) using your notes: State the medium and form and explain how we know these. Analyse genre Analyse the communicative purpose(s) of the magazine (to persuade, to inform) Analyse the industry purpose (to attract advertising, to make a profit)

Language - where appropriate analyse in relation to Categories (i.e purpose/genre) and/or Institution (i.e the need to make a profit) Analyse the technical/cultural codes on the front cover and throughout the magazine Analyse any use of anchorage on the front cover of the magazine

Key Point 3 - Institution – where appropriate relate to any other key aspect. Analyse the internal controls/factors on the magazine (both positive and negative) Analyse the external controls/factors on the magazine

Conclusion If you have time draw a conclusion about the importance of considering one key aspect from Categories /Language/ Institution when producing a magazine in particular and explain your choice.
