 Due to the Gorkha Earthquake 2015 approximately 1 million children were directly affected by the earthquake.  Almost 90 % of children were forced to drop out because of destruction of school.  Substantial numbers of children got psychological problems and lack of motivational support and they faced the difficulties.  The tragic reality today is that no matter where you may be living, city or suburb, developed or developing country, there are going to be some or many children and youth who have experienced mild to profound trauma in their young lives.

 From Previous projects we found out that Gorkha Earthquake and frequent aftershocks caused a majority of children who lacked motivational support, to face fear, loneliness, and lack of attention on academic activities in supported school.  During Interactions with Government officials in emergency response, almost all students lacked motivational support due to the earthquake.

 Young School Children are the back bone and future of the Nation so the state and non state actors should give the first priority to secure their future.  School is a second home for children.  Education is the base of Development, Civilization and Socialization of the Nation. The Public Education System is critical, so to empower the public education system is important.  Most of the education related organizations are currently talking about the affected school buildings and death casualties of students, but there are many death casualties of teachers too. Before resuming the formal education we should work to normalize the situation due to loss of teachers and students in their schools by providing them psychosocial support

 Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, a world-renowned expert in child and adolescent trauma, has become the leading proponent of classifying a type of trauma that describes the cluster of symptoms that manifest in children and adolescents who have been victims of complex trauma, Developmental Trauma Disorder (DTD).  The case for DTD as its own classification is that children suffering from complex and interpersonal trauma consistently present with a coherent group of symptoms that should be considered as part of the trauma, instead of simultaneous, yet independent, disorders.

 The purpose of the study is to know the effect of disaster on children and youth and bring them out of the psycho-social trauma of disaster.

*Study will be limited to the Kathmandu district of Nepal. The study will also be limited to year old children (both girls and boys).

 Survey method will be adopted to collect the information about the psychosocially affected children.  Psychological counselling sessions will be done to the affected children if needed.  Football and Basketball tournament will be organized (basket ball for Girls and Football for boys) with the help of local football players of Kathmandu district.

 The outcome of the city will help the budding researchers in the field of disaster management to design their intervention program.

 For regular monitoring, review and assessment of the progress, program coordinators will take necessary initiatives.  Progress/financial reports and monitoring visits will be taken as means of verification for tracking the progress of the Project.

 The report will cover the planned versus actual outputs, results and achievements, learning, and challenges.  The report will also include reflections from evaluations carried out and perspectives from children.  The result of the final evaluation and project experience will be published as a booklet, and sharing workshop with stakeholders will also be organized.

 Target beneficiaries will realize the importance of the programme as the project looks to conduct a series of activities. The monitoring unit will take interventions in school and community as per plan and budget.  After the project will phase out sensitized young people and students will share learned experience with other students and empowered youths and students will continue the activities as a part extra curriculum activities in the school and community.

 Since schools will be also one of the project coordination partners they will also include the activity in regular extra curriculum activities carried out by school from the psychosocial building approach.  Achieved results will shared in national and international forum which will help in dissemination of results.
