Early Causes of the American Revolution 1.What was the purpose of the British colonies? 2.Why did the colonists come to resent the British?

Mercantilism Economic policy of the British – Export more than they import Export=sell, import=buy Sell more to the colonies than they buy! – Colonists sell raw materials to England, and then buy back the “finished” products England makes a profit selling back the products – Ultimately helps the British and hurts the colonists – Navigation Acts were part of this policy

How did Mercantilism affect the colonists? Read the article and while reading, highlight, underline, or mark the text. List how the British Mercantilism polices hurt each region
