Characters vs. Nonprinting Characters Characters All items visible on screen that can be printed Examples: Letters, numbers, graphics Nonprinting Characters All items that can be seen on a screen, but NOT printed Examples: Hard returns, blank spaces, & tabs How To: Click on the Show/Hide button
Nonprinting Characters Arrow = Tab Dot = Space Paragraph Symbol = Hard Return
Delete & Replace Characters Backspace Key Deletes characters to the LEFT of the insertion point Delete Key Deletes characters to the RIGHT of the insertion point
