The Lewis and Clark Expidition By: Adam Brooks and Arthur Grace

The Louisiana Purchase BY a treaty signed on April 30, 1803, the united states purchase more than 2 million sq km of land that started at the Mississippi and continued through the Rockies. It was sold for approximately 15 million us dollars, and about 4million was the French debt to the American citizens. It was approximately 4 cents and acre.

Starting Off The Lewis and Clark Expedition of the Louisiana purchase was authorized by Thomas Jefferson for the years of 1804 through Around the time of January 18th, 1804 Lewis and Clark requested a 2,500 dollars for the expedition. Thomas Jefferson wanted experienced explorers to explore his newly purchased land. They left St. Louis on May 18 th on a keelboat. They had 29 men.

Up the Missouri Along the way Clark watched his seamen and mapped the route precisely, While Lewis made scientific observations and collected specimens. They had to struggle up stream on their small boats and were infested by mosquitoes. On a good day the only made 12 or 14 miles. Made contact with Natives and ended in North Dakota

Sacagawea During the winter Lewis and Clark hired a French fur trader and his wife, a shoeshone woman named Sacagawea. They figured because this woman was of native ascent she could help be a translator.

Across into the Pacific As they continued down river the had found it apparent that there was no such thing as the northwest waterway that went straight into the pacific. A year and a half later the set up fort Clatsop on the southern mouth of the Columbia river.

Return Journey: HOME SWEET HOME!!!!! On March 23, 1806, the corps of discovery set off for home. The were vired tired from their long trip so they came home gave Thomas Jefferson his new items from the west and they took a break.
