Prior experience, skills and knowledge Evidence Good understanding of general classroom routines, expectations, common organisational features, etc. Work experience (pre-course) in 2 primary schools. Good knowledge and understanding of English as a subject. A-Levels in English Literature and English Language – thoroughly enjoyed these studies. Good communication skills.Experience in public speaking (Rotary Club competitions) – gained confidence through this. Key Skills, Level 2 – Communication qualification. Prior experience, skills and knowledgeEvidence Work experience totalling three months in four different infant/junior schools. References from the relevant teachers and notes taken whilst in school. Working with elderly patients- developing sensitivity towards individual needs and recognising the importance of confidentiality. Work as an nursing auxiliary in a secure unit for the elderly. Caring for two children ages 7 and 9 and having domestic duties as a live in au pair. Au pair for one year, with references. Planning of sensitive curriculum material for year nine students. Addressing the different levels of development between peers and teaching them accordingly. Lower 6 th APAUSE course. In small groups we adapted and created material to teach year nine PHSE sessions. Prefect duties supervising younger students, organising events and taking part in school council issues and debates. Prefect in both year twelve and year thirteen of six form college. TargetAction Timescale For Completion Achieved: Date and location of EVIDENCE To organise myself in order to have assignments completed well in advance of the due in date. Produce and display on wall a schedule of when work has to be completed by. Have readings and plan to have completed a week before the assignment is due in. Ensure all submissions are proof read prior to hand in. By end of Semester 2 – review with PDT To develop a better understanding of the SEN of the children in my class (ie. ADHD and Autism). Discussions with teacher tutor about her knowledge and the provisions for these children. Internet based research. End of SE 1 To ensure that I am an effective staff team member work with class teacher & TAs during SE. Attend all planning & staff meetings. Discuss with teacher tutor and TA expectations for pupils working in the classroom. Use teacher’s medium and short term plans to ensure that I have good subject knowledge and awareness of learning intentions. Immediate tasks  Check your University , Learning Network, Portal & Year 1 notice board (SGC) every day.  Write your Induction Formative essay – ensure you have your Induction Reading Pack. (Details of this essay in the Communication Skills session following your Offsite Visit).  Write a draft for your reflective journal that covers what has led you to start on this course. Why teaching? Why now? Why this university?  Send your essay via to your PDT no later than 3 rd October and arrange a time to meet in Week 3 (w/c 10 th October) to discuss your formative essay and to set targets – this may well be a group tutorial.
