Why is Dirt Important? Seeds take water that is in soil to germinate and grow Provides plant a “home” and allows for root growth All of the plants nutrients are needed to grow are stored in the soil Which field do you think is the best to grow your crop in? 4

Why Sun Important Plants take sunlight and convert into energy –The sun supplies plants with all of the sugar and carbohydrates needed to feed the plant Helps the plant move water from where it is stored in the roots up to the top of the plant –Transpiration 5

Why is Water Important Just like us plants need water to drink and stay hydrated Plants need water to keep a strong base and stem so they stand up tall and strong –Turgor pressure Water carries all the essential nutrients and vitamins around the plant –Like a river 6
