Allocated on a basis of the number of students eligible for free or reduced lunch. Schools receive Title I funding if 40% or more students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Schools in the Elk Grove Unified School District are ranked according to this percentage, and schools receive a certain amount of money per student. 1% of a school’s total Title I budget must be set aside for parent involvement activities. A minimum of 10% of a school in Program Involvement must set aside for professional development Funds must SUPPLEMENT, not SUPPLANT services already provided by the school district. Title I Funds

Every Title I school, in collaboration with parents, must prepare a site level parent involvement policy. The Parent Involvement Policy describes how the school will involve parents in the planning, review, and improvement of the Title I program at their school, and it will do so in an organized, ongoing, and timely fashion. The Title I Parent Involvement Policy

Describes the responsibilities of the school, the parent, and the student, and how these responsibilities will result in improved student achievement Is developed in collaboration with parents, teachers, other school staff, and the principal The Home/School Compact
