Making the Case for NET METERING Katherine T. Egland

INSTEAD OF YOU SENDING A CHECK FOR YOUR ELECTRICITY USE- YOU COULD BE GETTING ONE!

WHY IS NET-METERING IMPORTANT? WE MUST REDUCE CARBON EMISSIONS INTO OUR ATMOSPHERE ●SAFER ENERGY COMBATS CLIMATE CHANGE ●REDUCES POLLUTION ●SAVES LIVES- $AVE$ MONEY ●SAVES THE PLANET AND

ENERGY ALTERNATIVES - RENEWABLE SOURCES Not Depleted When Used, Such As Wind Or Solar Power.

PROS AND CONS MYTHS AND FACTS SO WHAT IS THE CONTROVERSY?

ENERGY TRANSISTIONING A JUST TRANSITION OR JUST A TRANSITION??? Approved building of lignite coal plant Only 0.05% renewables in power mix Only 1MW of grid-connected solar Study- PV rooftops can provide 22% source Net-metering currently pending before PSC *1 of 4 states WITHOUT a net-metering policy INSTEAD OF RENEWABLES, MISSISSIPPI

NATIONAL NAACP BOARD RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF NET-METERING THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will continue to support the deployment of clean energy sources, specifically solar and wind power, especially distributed solar located within local communities, and will advocate for pricing structures that are fair and do not unduly burden low income ratepayers; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the NAACP will continue to support programs and policies that ensure affordable access to clean energy options for all; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the NAACP advocates for equitable and sustainable job training and job opportunities to low- to moderate-income African American residents within communities of color; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that utility companies be required to connect to the local producers to whom they distribute energy; and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the NAACP will transmit this Resolution to state legislatures and public utility commissions that are considering renewable energy cost allocation policies.

DID YOU OWN ONE OF THESE YEARS AGO? DO YOU OWN ONE OR MORE NOW? CELL PHONE FLAT SCREEN TV COMPUTER

WITH RESPONSIBLE NET-METERING POLICIES: THE CAN BE WITHIN YOUR REACH! AS THE CO$T CONTINUES TO DROP SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM MODELS ●NON-ROOFTOP = SOLAR FIELDS ●COMMUNITY OWNED CO-OPS ●RENTAL ●FINANCING WITH NO CREDIT CHECKS *ALL PAID WITH THE ENERGY SAVINGS

DO YOU LIKE BEING ABLE TO CHOOSE YOUR INTERNET, CABLE TELEVISION, HOME OR CELL PHONE CARRIER? THEN YOU WILL NET METERING CHOICE$ ENERGY DEMOCRACY LOVE =
