4 Stereotype General Terms Stereotypes are opinions or considerations about members of particular groups or a category of people that are entirely based on their membership to this group. Most stereotypes express very negative points of view which transport prejudices. From:

5 EU WAREHOUSE, 7 rue Kerckx, B-1050 Brussels, Tel.: Gender roles and stereotypes This area covers the stereotyped images of women and men and the need to change behaviors, attitudes, norms and values to take account of the evolution of the roles of men and women in society. The actions cover gender mainstreaming in particular in education, training, culture, science, media, youth and sports policies.

6 EU WAREHOUSE, 7 rue Kerckx, B-1050 Brussels, Tel.: …Experience of action at Community level, in particular in the field of gender, has shown that combating discrimination in practice calls for a combination of measures and in particular of legislation and of practical action designed to be mutually reinforcing. Similar lessons can be drawn from experience dealing with racial and ethnic origin and disability. The programme should deal with all grounds of discrimination with the exception of sex, which is dealt with by specific Community action. Discrimination on different grounds can have similar features and can be combated in similar ways. Experience built up over many years in combating discrimination on some grounds, including sex, can be used to the benefit of other grounds. …. From: … combating discrimination on grounds of racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation… To improve understanding of issues related to discrimination through analysis and evaluation To develop capacity to combat and prevent discrimination through building and strengthening inter-organisational dialogue To promote values underlying the fight against discrimination through awareness-raising activities

Realisation in framework of the partnership approach. innovative character and concrete contribution to achieve the communitiy objectives. multiplier effect SPECIAL criteria EU WAREHOUSE, 7 rue Kerckx, B-1050 Brussels, Tel.:

European Added Value - what is the added value? - do the expected results guarantee more data and information? - is this project set up in an area which is uncovered by other EU projects up to now? - does the geographical covering of the project seem reasonable considering the best-practice-transfer? - does this project give possibilities to the partners to get information on the professional discussion in other countries? - does this project give possibilities to the partners to learn from the experiences of the others? - does this project allow to develop a comprehensive understanding (trans- national and inter-sectors) of the problems? EU WAREHOUSE, 7 rue Kerckx, B-1050 Brussels, Tel.:

4) Transnationality - do the geographical spread make sense? - is there a grouping of different disciplines or is the partnership based on the same “actors” from the different countries? - Are the most important actors involved ? - is there a realistic allocation of the responsibilities based on the cultural and political background of the EU countries? - does the task sharing need a high degree of co-ordination? - does the co-ordination exceed the content? 7) Other - how is the gender mainstreaming considered? - is I&C-Technology involved?
