A MUSEUM IN OUR CLASSROOM? LOOK EXPLORE THINK IMAGINE Experience

JUST GO FOR IT! Imagine that there is going to be a museum built to showcase your life achievements. What would you like to see placed in the museum to represent the first years of your life?

ROMAN ACHIEVEMENT Creating a Museum

What is the purpose of a museum? A museum is an institution devoted to the care and display of objects of lasting interest of value. Examples of museums are: Helen Keller National Gallery of Art of Kids Smithsonian

A Museum in our Classroom? You will be assigned a specific area of Roman contribution: ART ARCHITECTURE LAW/GOVERNMENT LITERATURE HISTORY SCIENTIFIC ADVANCEMENTS

A Museum in our Classroom? Once you decide on your area you will research what important achievements were made by the Romans in your area. You will then choose one achievement and select a way in which this can be illustrated/displayed. You must make an object for the museum. Objects can be pictures, letters, poems, sculptures, models, or stories.

A Museum in our Classroom? ALL work should be completed in class, but materials can be brought from home. After you have made your object, it must be clearly labeled with a detailed description so visitors to the museum will know why/how it is important. You will receive a handout describing this assignment in detail and this powerpoint will be placed on our website for you and your parents to see.

A Museum in our Classroom? Anyone finished ahead of schedule can help with the organization and management of the museum. Such tasks will include: An entrance sign to our museum A detailed map of our museum layout A museum store (if decided upon to have one) Invitations/Tickets Advertisement

SHALL WE GET BUSY?
