GKV1013 Visual analysis Perspective

 "Perspective is to painting what the bridle is to the horse, the rudder to a ship……………..

There are three aspects to perspective:  how the size of objects seems to diminish according to distance  the manner in which colors change the farther away they are from the eye;  how objects ought to be finished less carefully the farther away they are."  (Leonardo da Vinci)

Perspective Drawing  Perspective Drawing is a technique used to represent three-dimensional images on a two-dimensional picture plane.

 There are two main elements in perspective drawing: 1) Linear Perspective which deals with the organisation of shapes in space 2) Aerial Perspective which deals with the atmospheric effects on tones and colours.

Linear Perspective

Aerial Perspective

. To draw one-point perspective, we arrange our subject so that one set of visible lines has a vanishing point right in front of us, and the set at right-angles goes out to infinity on each side One Point Perspective

Two-Point Perspective  In perspective drawing, every set of parallel lines has its own vanishing point. When viewing things in TWO POINT perspective, we are viewing the object or scene so that we are looking at one corner, with two sets of parallel lines are moving away from us.

Three Point Perspective  You can see 3 point perspective at work when you look at a picture of a tall building taken from near the base. In this situation, not only do you have the regular 2 point perspective, but the vertical sides of the building seem to draw together toward the top. They are pointing to a third vanishing point.

 There are two situations you must deal with in 3 point perspective: bird's eye view and worm's eye view.  In a bird's-eye view, you are looking down at objects from a viewpoint well above the horizon. Suppose you are standing on a hill looking down at a small town with houses and trees.
