What is Gran Kermes? A traditional Mexican festival / carnival featuring games. Often churches, schools and associations host Kermes to incorporate the community in an effort to fundraise. Children visit the different booths that offer games or food.

Goals immersed in Mexican culture learned, practiced, had vocabulary repetition experienced real traditions Students…

Objective: Students to become more familiar with traditions around the world. Learn vocabulary Learn about culture Learn about food and how it differs Mexico / USA and even in regions of Mexico Bring Kermes to 13 elementary schools, impacting 700 students

Teamwork to get ready for El Gran Kermes Student orientedClearly marked stations

Older students helped set up stations. Students interacted and learned about Mexican culture by going to Kermes, a festival filled with many popular activities. During Kermes, students walked from stand to stand. Typical Mexican foodEl Gran Kermes Festival

La Loteria Student was so thrilled to be part of Kermes, that for Christmas she asked her parents to take her to Mexico!

LA Tombola (Prizes) Students collected red tickets throughout the stations to be redeemed at La Tombola Station.

La Comida: Students were able to taste typical foods including, tacos, esquites, tamales and more.

Students celebrated 5 de mayo in a fun and educational way. They were engaged in a Mexican tradition that treated them to an unforgettable experience.

Principal Visited El Gran Kermes The Gran Kermes concept was expanded into the school day with the additional participation of ALL R.B. Hunt K- 2 nd graders.
