Potential Interview Questions: Data – how do you anticipate using data within your classroom? Provide and example. Where would you begin to find resources to support an individual student’s needs? What are some ways (or tools for) of identifying those needs? What are the components of effective aligned instruction? Share some instructional strategies you’re familiar with. Are you familiar with Pennsylvania’s standards, the Common Core, and/or vertical alignment of key concepts within your area of interest? How would an understanding of these topics help you better meet your students’ needs? How could you accommodate your ELL learners?
Clear Standards Clear Standards Pennsylvania Standards describe what students should know and be able to do and reflect the increasing complexity and sophistication that students are expected to achieve as they progress through school. The assessment anchors clarify the standards assessed on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA).
Fair Assessment There are four areas of assessment addressed in SAS: Summative Assessments Formative Assessments Diagnostic Assessments Benchmark Assessments
Curriculum Framework Specifies what topics are to be taught at which grade levels for each subject in the curriculum.
Instruction Aligned instruction comprised the following activities: Teaching topics aligned with the standards Ensuring the right level of challenge. Focusing teaching based on the learning needs of each student. Implementing instructional strategies that ‘scaffold’ by building on each other to help students achieve the standards.
Materials & Resources Voluntary Model Curriculum (VCM) will be strictly aligned to the PA standards, concepts, and competencies as well as the assessment anchors for the four major content areas (mathematics, science, social studies, reading-writing- speaking-listening).
Interventions What supports do students need to meet or exceed grade level expectations?
