Focus on the Fourth Commandment The fourth commandment calls us to respect our parents and other parental figures

Dear Abby What are the steps to improving a difficult family/relationship situation? 1.Cool off. 2.Tell what’s bothering you using “I messages.” 3.Take responsibility. 4.Brainstorm solutions. 5.Affirm, forgive, or thank.

Applying the steps Complete the table by describing how the main person involved in your case study could fulfill each of the steps.

Dear Abby, I am faced with the most difficult decision of my career. I believe the man Jesus to be innocent of the charges against him. However, the priests and enemies of Jesus demand his death. Because of my high office, it is in my power to free him; but if I do, I am very afraid I will lose my position. What should I do? Pondering Pontius

Dear Pondering, My suggestion to you is to follow your own conscience. Will you find it more difficult to be responsible for the death of an innocent man, or to know that you have done the right thing no matter what the consequence? Only you can answer that question. This is indeed Truth or Consequences. Good luck.

What’s the commandment? You will each receive a piece of paper – some with one of the ten commandments, some with issues or mistakes that people may face. You must match your piece of paper to the appropriate person(s) in the room, then, act out the issue with a solution.
