Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. Psalm 119:35 July 31, 2011 Rev. David B. Hanson Deaf Liberty Baptist Church Overland Park, Kansas

The first step we need to follow to receive direction from the Lord  "Trust in the Lord with all of our heart.“  Psalm 118:8  It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.  Rely totally upon our Savior’s leading on the trail of life.

The second step we need to follow to receive direction from the Lord  "Lean not on our own understanding.“  Proverbs 3:5  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  When we rely on just our own understanding we always have failures, but when we lean on our Lord’s understanding we find success.

The third step we need to follow to receive direction from the Lord  “Acknowledge Him in all our ways.“  Proverbs 3:6  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  We need to acknowledge God as Lord of Lord and King of Kings. He is in authority over all things.

David Fights Goliath

King Saul Armed David  I Samuel 17:38  And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.

David Used His Sling  I Samuel 17:40  And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

Come and Follow Jesus  Matthew 16:24  Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Do not ask Jesus to follow you; follow Jesus.  Do not go your own way; follow Jesus.  Do not sit and watch him; follow Jesus.  Do not drag your baggage along; follow Jesus. 
