Conceptual Sunrise Process (in Contract) 0Pre-SunriseSolicitation of reserved domain name lists from ccTLDs and governments (through GAC representatives) 1Sunrise ICorresponding governments and/or relevant entities may “activate” (i.e. register) domains from the reserved domain lists obtained during Pre-Sunrise on a First- Come-First-Served basis 2Sunrise IIPublic bodies, holders/licensees of trademarks, holders of other prior protected rights may apply for domains based on their relevant names 3Quiet Period 4LandrushAnyone who meets the charter eligibility requirements may apply for any domain name 5AuctionFor domains that received more than one valid application during Sunrise II (2) and Landrush (4), auctions will be held for all competing applicants 6Go LiveLive First-Come-First-Served registrations commence

Target Launch Schedule (draft) Late Spring 2007 (~April 2007) – Sunrise I (Governments) Early Summer 2007 (~June 2007) – Sunrise II (Trademarks) Fall 2007 (Sep / Oct 2007) – Landrush Early Fall 2007 (Oct / Nov 2007) – Auctions Winter 2007 (~Nov 2007) – Live FCFS registrations

Pre-Sunrise and Sunrise I Pre-Sunrise: –Solicitation of reserved names from governments (through ccTLDs and GAC representatives in the community) Proposed Types of Reserved Names –ICANN requirements –Country / Economy names and their variants –City names, geographical identities, etc. –Other government related names and marks, etc. Sunrise I: –Government bodies to activate the reserved names –Domains must be “activated” (i.e. registered) via an ICANN registrar

Sunrise II (Trademark) Trademark Sunrise: –Application: additional fields via EPP –Additional Documentations Will try best to keep things electronic Will provide option for registrars to indicate whether registry should contact applicant directly or should communicate with registrar only Will provide regular reports (or equivalent tools) for indicating outstanding applications –Acceptable Trademark Offices Will try to cover Asia as much as administratively possible Considering allowing international trademarks Will try to have a clear list of accepted Trademark Offices

Trademark Names Acceptable Domains from Trademark –Handling of non-LDH (Letters-Digit-Hyphen) characters Would like to allow meaningful “mutations” (e.g. AB&C to register ABandC.ASIA and/or ABC.ASIA –Handling of word “asia” inside trademark Would like to allow “ABC ASIA” to register as “abc.asia” –Under evaluation from trademark experts Will likely work with multiple validation agents –To cover diverse region (e.g. Arabic community)

Eligibility Requirements One of the associated contacts to make declaration –That they are a legal entity in one of the jurisdictions within the community described by the ICANN Asia / Australia / Pacific region (73 ccTLDs) –Policy under finalization Additional Fields submitted via EPP –Name (matching with contact) –Type of entity, e.g. organisation (company, partnership, social groups, etc.) A natural person / citizen / resident within the community Government / Public bodies within the community –Economy / Country of entity –Number / Code of proof of entity (e.g. ID number, Business Registration Number, etc.)

Auction Arrangements Sunrise II and Landrush –Multiple applications for a domain is accepted within time period –Domains with only one valid application gets registered –Auctions (between the applicants only) will be held for domains with more than one valid application Auction System –Mainly through online auctioning –API connection (so registrar can integrate to the site) –White-label site for registrants to login directly for auctions –Considering live auctions Revenue Sharing with Registrars

Immediate Target Timeline January / February 2007 –Registrar Accreditation process ready –Official Press and Public Relations activities on the announcement of the.ASIA registry –Marketing material for registrars – logos, banners, etc. (will continue to be provided / updated as we move forward through 2007) Pre-Registrations –Generally, there will be no restrictions on pre- registrations –Should obtain accreditation before allowing pre- registration
