Mrs. Michael English Comp 101 HOW TO USE MLA DOCUMENTATION IN-TEXT

Use the author’s last name followed by the year published in parentheses. Example: Gibson (2012) in the article “Why We Are What We Eat,” stated, “The brain works best with about 25 grams of glucose circulating in the blood stream, which is about the amount found in a banana” (17). This is a good example of how to incorporate the quote seamlessly. USING A QUOTATION – FOR THE 1 ST TIME

When the citation is in the same paragraph, you do not need the author’s name. Use the page number only. Gibson (2012) in the article “Why We Are What We Eat,” stated, “The brain works best with about 25 grams of glucose circulating in the blood stream, which is about the amount found in a banana” (17). Those who eat meat lack essential vitamins as their diet is sufficient in the vegetables and fruits that contain healthy nutrients (20). USING INFORMATION FROM ONE AUTHOR– FOR THE 2ND TIME
