Community & Diversity Committee Goals Short-term goals: – Plan thematic discussions on race/ethnicity in academia, inclusive excellence and faculty diversity at each Faculty Council meeting in – Advise Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs; provide feedback on draft faculty diversity plan

Community & Diversity Committee Goals Long-term goals: – To improve the climate at UNC for minority faculty with regard to matters of race/ethnicity – To achieve long-standing, sustainable and appropriate numbers of underrepresented minority faculty to truly realize the benefits of diversity in education – To yield long-term positive change in the UNC environment for all faculty

Three major intersectional issues At Faculty Council we will discuss how gender, race, sexual orientation, class and other categories of identity impact the experiences of faculty and students with regard to these three areas Note: All will benefit!
