Welcome to Open House Mrs. Smith’s Kindergarten Class

Who is Mrs. Smith? Grew up in Enterprise, Alabama. Graduated from Troy University Dothan Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education 17 years of experience Husband- Donald Smith Kids: Rachel and Cole

Safety First Sign in at the front office Please write a note if your child is going home in a different manner than normal. Otherwise, your child will go home in the ordinary manner. If you forget to write a note, please call the school. Let the school know if any of your contact information changes. Allergies? Medication must be brought to school by parents and kept in the nurses office.

Tardiness and Absences Children should be here on time… before the bell rings at 8:00. Make sure they have on their Bus Tag, even if you arrive late. Please send a note to excuse absence in your child’s zipper pouch in his/her daily folder. The more your children are in school, the more they will learn!

Daily Folder Sent home and returned to school every day. Homework sheet: Go over nightly and return on or before Friday. You may keep daily work at home. ****Read and use your “Monday Memo” as your guide for the week. You will get a new one each week. *Any note you want me to see needs to be zipped in the black pouch inside the daily folder.

Lunch Money Students Breakfast Lunch Reduced Paid Faculty & Volunteers Visitor **Please turn in lunch money to the lunchroom. (Go to school website to pay online. The office will give you your code to access this site.) Lunchroom Phone Number: (334)

Snack Please send a snack large enough for the whole class once a month. If your child brings his own snack, please put it in a bag with his/her name on it. Put juice/popcorn money in a ziploc and place in the black zipper pouch in daily folder so that I get it first thing in the morning. Money for snack or popcorn is only accepted on Mondays! I will let you know when more money is needed. Juice or Milk Money: Daily-$0.50/ Weekly-$2.50/ Monthly- $10.00 Popcorn: Normally every Friday- $0.50($20 will cover entire year.) ***Juice money is separate from popcorn money.

Birthday Parties Celebrations are always welcomed! Please let me know at least two days ahead of time. (if possible) Finger foods and juice boxes are very easy to serve. Please provide necessary utensils to serve the food. NO invitations at school.

Homework In Daily Folder Sent home: Every day Have homework turned in on or before Friday Should be a reflection of your child’s best work. Homework is meant to be helpful….not a burden minutes of reading daily *** Keep Monday Memo in folder for the daily conduct color to be shown. I will replace it each Monday.

Dismissal Your child will wear a “Car/Bus Tag” Please make sure that is returned daily. Bus (2:50) Van (2:55) riders leave school first Car Riders (3:00): –You may walk up and get your child from my line. Please wait until we are seated and make sure you verbally tell me you are taking your child. **If you have someone else, even a family member, pick up your child, their name MUST be on your “Checkout Form” and that person must be able to show photo ID. –You may drive through the loop to get your child. Please make sure to have your “Green Car Pass”. If you do not have this they will not let you go through the loop.

Our Rules 1. Listen when someone is talking. 2. Follow directions quickly and quietly. 3. Raise your hand to speak. 4. Respect yourself. Respect others. Respect your school. 5. Be safe. Be honest. 6. Make your teachers happy.

Penalties No problems stay on green. Verbal warning move behavior clip to orange. Move clip to red and move away from the group and/or lose class privileges. Move clip to blue, send a note home or a phone call to parents. A visit to the principal’s office.

Rewards and Recognition If a student ends the day or week on a green card he will get a sticker or smiley face. If he were great, look for a dimple on the smiley face. If a child has exhibited perfect behavior he can move his color up to purple! Do not expect purple daily. On Friday, if the student remained on green he will get to go to the treasure chest or get a fun treat of some kind. Each student will start back on green at the beginning of each new day. ***We will also “Fill Our Buckets” by showing good character traits that we will learn throughout the year!

Helpful hints! Read every night. Let your kids talk about their reading and daily events. Keep a journal.(Write, write, write) Practice writing name, letters, numbers, and sight words.
