US President visited Bavarian village of Krün with Angela Merkel today (June, 7). He joked that he would buy a pair of lederhosen as he snacked on weisswurst and the local wheat beer. The two leaders vowed to uphold 'enduring friendship' of US and Germany. Leaders of the G7 countries are meeting for a summit on global issues.

A sniper at Munich airport as Air Force One lands carrying Mr. Obama.

Angela Merkel arrives at G7 summit in Bavaria.

Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel and her husband Joachim Sauer, right, was greeted with a bunch of flowers by local children.

Barack Obama raises a glass of wheat beer after he arrived in the village of Krün in Germany.

Young women wearing dirndls served the US President ahead of the G7 summit held nearby.

Obama ate pretzels and weisswurst, a form of sausage, at the event in a Bavarian village.

Musicians who were playing alphorns watch as Mr. Obama gives a speech in the town.

Obama and Ms Merkel are hoping to rebuild the relationship between the US and Germany.

Obama commented that he hoped to buy a pair of lederhosen during his stay in Bavaria.
