P ARKINSON‘S D ISEASE S OCIETY “I have not been, nor will ever be able to forgive myself for being so ignorant about my father’s early symptoms.” June’s urge to support this institution evolved naturally from her very personal experience as she has increasingly become conscious that she was predestined to do something positive out of her overwhelming sadness. She is particularly interested in research for a cure for the disease because she cannot help thinking that her father might be still alive if the cure had been discovered in his life time even though the diagnosis came at the latest stage of his illness. T HE N ATIONAL A UTISTIC S OCIETY & R ESEARCH A UTISM June recognises mistreatment people receive due to their learning disability, which is often associated with autism. June holds that having conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder is a gift, rather than disability, for being able to see the world from a different perspective. The majority of autistic people have proved their amazing ability to pay attention to and also memorise intricate details of something that fascinates them. Many with Asperger Syndrome, a form of Autism, demonstrate their extraordinary creativity, and have become accomplished musicians, artists and writers. June dreams of the world where no preconceptions are formed before exploring someone’s full potential. Copyright © 2007 June Grandwells. All rights reserved. PreviousNext

E PILEPSY R ESEARCH UK “My mother claimed to have lived in constant fear of my life being taken by epileptic seizures when I was a girl.” Despite having memories of her childhood as early as she was 16 months old, June has no recollection of her seizures. And by the time she entered a Preparatory School, her symptoms had mysteriously disappeared. However, she understands the complications this illness brings to a family, and is keen to support this institution. Copyright © 2007 June Grandwells. All rights reserved. PreviousNext
