Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons) Info from Newsletter sent on 9th May 2011 Well it has been a full month since you had a letter from me – I suppose most of that time we were on holiday! I think the holidays were super for all of us with the beautiful weather. Maybe not so good for those of you that had to cope with child care for such a long period!

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons) Info from Newsletter sent on 9th May 2011 Headteacher Interviews Interviews are happening tomorrow in school. Please keep anything that is not actually urgent until Wednesday. I am sure you would like to wish our governors luck tomorrow as well as the candidates. I think it is so, so, so very important for you to understand just how much time, effort and sheer hard work that has gone into these interviews by your governors and by the staff. This really is no mean feat!

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons) Info from Newsletter sent on 9th May 2011 Violins Lessons in Class 2 The children in Class 2 at the moment who are learning the violin are going to participate in a concert at the Thomas Hardye School on 5 July. I have not been told yet whether this will be in the morning or the afternoon but there is a meeting next week for this to be decided. There are ten DASP schools performing at this concert and they will be split into two – five at each concert. Parents are invited and I will let you know whether it is am or pm as soon as I hear.

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons) Info from Newsletter sent on 9th May 2011 Ghana I cannot even begin to tell you the saga that went on during the holidays trying to ship the goods out to my daughter in Ghana except to say you may have seen me at the school during the day and late at night about four times!! But – great news – they arrived in the school in Ghana this morning and Michelle rang Cheselbourne to say that the computers were being collected and the books were going to be distributed later on. She is taking photographs all the time but, unfortunately, it is not possible to send them by – yet! The school has no electricity so Michelle, having taught three ICT lessons using text books – three lessons too many she said – organized with an NGO who owns the local Internet café, for the children to have lessons there free – every day.

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons) Info from Newsletter sent on 9th May 2011 The computers are going to be put in his café until the school gets electricity. The school is so pleased about this and so also are the children. They are not only using computers but also having access to the Internet. Michelle is very ICT aware and I think the lessons she will be giving them will make a lasting difference to them.

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons) Info from Newsletter sent on 9th May 2011 She was so excited when she rang this morning and is so very grateful to all of you for your kindness and generosity. It has not been easy – in either countries – to make this work but with two Herridges on the case, Tescos, the church and your financial help, we were determined to make it happen! Well done everyone.

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons) Info from Newsletter sent on 9th May 2011 Royal Tea Party Thank you to everyone that was able to attend our Royal Tea Party. We had a wonderful afternoon. The ‘Let’s Get Cooking’ club with Mrs Folley, Mrs Price, Mrs White and Mrs Bywater organized the food and the hall. The cooking club children made the cakes and Mr Duffin taught all the children Got Save the Queen. Each child received a commemorative mug thanks to the Friends and we had a super Union Flag cake from Mrs Folley. Brilliant. Thank you everyone.

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons) Info from Newsletter sent on 9th May 2011 School Crossing Patrols. I know that we do not have any school crossing patrol people – Lollipop Patrols to us – but I have had an from Liz Norman, a local mum, with a lot of information and statistics re traffic surveys done in Dorset. She is asking for support and if you feel you would like to find out more or support their campaign then do visit their pages on SAVE OUR SCHOOL CROSSING PATROLS IN DORSET.

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons) Info from Newsletter sent on 9 th May 2011 Newsletters are also to be found on the school website on the news page. Remember that there is a wealth of information on our website!
